Even if you keep an otherwise immaculate house, there always seems to be one room that is always cluttered. More often than not, this room will typically be your bedroom. One of the reasons the bedroom tends to get so cluttered is because whenever we need to clean house quickly when guests are coming over, the surplus items that don’t really have a place, get tossed into your bedroom, the one place your house guests aren’t likely to go to.
Once the items end up in the bedroom, they tend to stay there. The other reason that the bedroom gets so cluttered is clothing. As trends and sizes change we accumulate more clothes but we seldom get rid of what we already own. The best way to create more space in your bedroom is by using organizers such as closet storage boxes and shoe organizers to create more space. If all else fails, there’s always the local thrift store, which is always glad to have your unused or surplus items.
Closet Storage Boxes to the Rescue!
The first step in creating more space in your bedroom is cleaning out your closet. The whole reason your bedroom got so cluttered in the first place was probably because you ran short on closet space. Take everything out of your closet and leave it in your bedroom. Now vacuum the closet floor and dust off the closet walls. Once the closet is completely clean you will be ready to start cleaning up the rest of your bedroom.
Before you start replacing stuff in your closet, you need to commit yourself to being more organized. This means you are going to purchase closet storage systems, hangers, and shoe organizers and you are actually going to use them. You should have all of these items on hand before you start your cleaning project. Don’t worry about purchasing to many boxes, they can be used for a variety of things and storing the empty ones is very easy.
Start by sorting your clothing. The clothing that you wear regularly should either be hung up or it should be put into your dresser. The clothing that is either out of season, or that you only wear on special occasions should be neatly folded up and placed into your closet storage boxes. Any shoes that you only wear on certain occasions should also go into the boxes. All clothing that you are unlikely to wear should go into a pile that you will either donate or sell to a local thrift store. The more merciless you are about what clothing you get rid off, the more closet and bedroom space you will ultimately have.
When you have sorted and dealt with your clothing, label and stack your closet storage boxes into your closet. Try to organize the boxes so that the clothing you are most likely to need first is in the boxes near the top and easily accessible. You should also make sure the boxes are neatly labeled. With your closet organized, it is time to tackle the rest of your bedroom. Using a couple of closet storage boxes to store other items such as books, spare bedding, and toys will help you keep your bedroom clutter free.
